Through the beech wood to the Tartera
La Tordera i la Tartera
- Time
- 1 h 30 min to 2 h 15 min
- Distance
- 4.0 km
- Ascent
- 250 m approx.
An hour and a half to two and a quarter hours, no car needed: you walk up from the campsite beside the Tordera and through a beech wood to the Tartera, then come back the same way. You leave the campsite by its other entrance and, about 250 m on, pass the ruins of the Fabriqueta d’en Tolín, an old sawmill. The dirt track follows the Tordera among alders, then climbs through the fageda, a beech wood, to a wide boulder field: the Tartera. There you turn around. The way out is the climb, about 200 m of it; the way back is almost all downhill. A river, a beech wood and a ruined sawmill in four kilometers.
Along the way
The numbers match the map.
Fageda
Here you enter the fageda, a beech wood, which stays with you for much of the climb.
The practical bit
- Surface
- A path inside the campsite, about 200 m of concrete track from the entrance, then dirt track to the Tartera. You come back the same way.
- Dogs
- On a leash. There is livestock loose, wildlife that nests on the ground and small children on the path.
- Parking
- Not needed. You walk out from the campsite.
These are the routes that start at the campsite. You walk them at your own risk: check the forecast before you set off, carry water, and there is no shame in turning back.
